Sid Meier's Civilization_ The Board Game Looks Wonderfully Complex

By Dr. Evelyn Reed | January 01, 0001 | 7 min read

From the creators of the World of Warcraft and StarCraft board games comes Sid Meier’s Civilization: The Board Game, the second board game inspired by the addictive turn-based strategy game. Sid Meier borrowed concept for the original Civilization video game from an Avalon Hill board game of the same name, jinda44 so it seems a no-brainer that the computer version get its own physical counterpart as well.(new Image()).src = 'https://capi.connatix.com/tr/si?token=995c4c7d-194f-4077-b0a0-7ad466eb737c&cid=872d12ce-453b-4870-845f-955919887e1b'; cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "995c4c7d-194f-4077-b0a0-7ad466eb737c" }).render("79703296e5134c75a2db6e1b64762017"); }); Eagle e19 Games certainly thought so, publishing the first Sid Meier’s Civilization: The Board Game in 2002. It was a nifty little game, with a simple rule set for basic play and an advanced set with more video game mechanics involved. The new Sid Meier’s Civilization: The Board Game, due out this fall from Fantasy Flight Games, has nothing to do with that betdog version, and judging by the company’s past works and the shot of the game layout above, I very much doubt there’s anything simple about it. Two to four players start the jinda44 game with a city, a single e19 scout, and an army figure. From there they will build an entire civilization, advancing its technology, forging trade relations, and waging war against their opponents. I’m a big fan of Fantasy Flight, owning the World of Warcraft Board Game and several expansions. I’ve never played it, though I betdog did spend several hours setting up the game once, only to run out of time. Hopefully Civilization is a bit easier to set up. The variety of games is excellent, including table games like blackjack, roulette, and baccarat, in addition to slots. This keeps the platform interesting and allows me to switch games depending on my mood. Sometimes I wish there were more ways to earn rewards through loyalty programs or frequent player bonuses. Adding seasonal events or special challenges could enhance the excitement even further. The mobile interface is smooth and intuitive.
